Jihyun Kim is an artist, researcher, and educator. She holds a BFA in Painting and a BA in Aesthetics from Seoul National University, an MA in Artistic Research from the Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art, and an MFA in Art from the California Institute of the Arts. She earned her EdD in College Teaching of Art from Teachers College, Columbia University.

  She has participated in several residency programs across Europe and the United States. Her practice investigates the power structures and systems embedded in everyday life and artistic contexts, working across a diverse range of media. She is particularly interested in the role and position of the viewer—how these are historically and culturally constructed, and how they continue to evolve. Her work also engages deeply with the intersection of art and education, exploring art as a site for learning and transformation.

  Her recent focus lies in developing multisensory and multidisciplinary approaches to artistic experience, expanding the ways in which audiences engage with and relate to art.
